Everyone Is An Influencer

Hey y’all. I’m just popping in here for a sec since people seem to call me an “influencer.” I think I’m a hard worker, a content creator, a community leader, a storyteller. What I do is not about influence, or wait, is it? I want people to come visit Florida and stay in our hotels and eat in our restaurants and learn a bit more about our history and our unique communities and businesses.

I guess I am an influencer…
but so is your mom.

OK, but wait, what IS an influencer? It’s anyone who shares information that causes another to take action or learn something new. Isn’t it? Let’s look it up.

Dictionary result for influencer:

  1. a person or thing that influences another.

"he was a champion of the arts and a huge influencer of taste"

a person with the ability to influence potential buyers of a product or service by promoting or recommending the items on social media.

"influencers can add serious credibility to your brand"

First, can we just have a moment of silence out of respect for the phonetic alphabet. I had to learn it in linguistics class and it is no joke, people. It is also incredibly helpful. So, thanks Dhi Fonètik Tîtcerz' Asóciécon.

Now, with that first definition, you see that every 👏  single 👏  person 👏  is an influencer. Your friends talking about their favorite restaurants, their favorite books, their favorite music. The people in your life who share what they do, where they go, what they like, or don’t like, influence you and your life decisions.

The second one, well, I think you need numbers for that and I feel like technically I’m barely a nano influencer. But, it’s not about how many people are following me, it’s how far a story will go. If you watch and visit and then tell your friends or family about the places I share with you…and they go to those places, then that’s enough for me. And, hey, there’s real value in that.

So, if you’re considering a staycation, or moving to Central Florida, or wondering what to do this weekend that might not include standing in a line at a theme park, well I hope I can influence your decision to try a new restaurant, visit a new gallery, make a new friend, and find a new favorite that you’ll share with your very own influence.

Keep on keeping on!
xx, Jenny
