I headed out on a school night to preview the opening of Heaven Is a Place on Earth at Mills Gallery in Winter Park. Anna Cruz and Adam Lavigne have created work and held shows together in the past but this one feels different. It inspire a journey of imagination and the paintings are so thoughtful and tell such complete stories that it’s hard not to get lost in them. Follow the hallway and escape into the world they’ve created.
Anna said it best in this write up from Orlando Weekly, “I like creating imagery that's really lush and like paradise, where looking at it is like spoiling yourself," she says. "It's like eating an ice cream cone – I want it to feel so good when you're looking at it. I don’t feel like there needs to be a bigger idea behind the image.”
This is a part of a KYLE EAGLE PRESENTS series titled "Whatever You Like To Do." The live show and interview is below. Watch it to hear what Anna and Adam say about the work they’ve made. The show is up at Mills Gallery until June 7th, but don’t wait. I promise you’ll love the colors, the stories, and giant canvases as much as I did. Kyle Eagle’s curated show is one of marvel. He’s absolutely on the money with sharing this crazy-talented pair of artists’ work.
