Pumpkin Spice Season Has Arrived

Ok, #unpopularopinion but I just cannot wrap my mind around the cult following of the infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte. For many, the PSL signifies fall and all its glory. For me it conjures up the mental image of (likely, very sweaty) Ugg boots, spam-level amounts of photos of Starbucks cups and frankly, the taste of weird cinnamon-adjacent chemicals. I just don’t get it. I’ve tried but it’s just not happenin’. So, when the idea of doing a feature on local spots that offer this seasonal beverage arrived I was both weary and a bit curious. What better guinea pig than someone who has yet to drink the pumpkin-flavored kool-aid?

Through tireless consumption and endless caffeine jitters, I’ve compiled a short-list of some local places that have officially made me a believer. These establishments aren’t phoning it in, they are the real deal folks. I found freshly roasted coffee beans, homemade syrups, fun little extras like maple whipped cream and most of all we have small local businesses that are out there doing their thing. Go say Hi! and see what all the fuss is about.

*For the non-coffee drinkers, don’t sleep on the baked goods at these places. The whoopie pies at Blue Bird are intervention-worthy. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

**For a more adult spin, check out The Woods for a Pumpkin Spice Jell-o shot or Finnhenry’s for their Spiked Pumpkin Spice Gogh Brew (with Van Gogh vodka) that they have on tap.

What a time to be alive!
